Diffuse-synaptic immunostaining is noticed in multiple but not all regions of the brain, with various signal intensities:
1./ Strong diffuse-synaptic immunostaining is noticed in the lateral septum, shall and core of the nucleus accumbens, the preoptic area, tuberal hypothalamus (especially in the paraventricular- and arcuate nuclei), thalamic paraventricular nucleus, stria terminalis, hippocampus mossy fibers, central amygdala, periaqueductal gray matter, interpeduncular nucleus, some nuclei of the medulla, like parabrachial nucleus, dorsal raphe, locus coeruleus, nucleus tractus solitarii.
Moderate-weak synaptic immunoreactivity is noticed in all layers of the olfactory bulb, ventral pallidum, caudate putamen, neocortex (stonger in the cingulate and piriform cortices), in the hippocampus, thalamus and in the molecular layer of the cerebellum.
The median eminence exhibits strong immunoreactivity.
